Behnaz Shakersain has a background in nutrition, in both clinical and public health areas (BSc & MSc). She has been working at the Aging Research Center since April 2011 as a research assistant and prospective PhD student in geriatric epidemiology in Professor Laura Fratiglioni’s group.  

Working with the SNAC-K data, Behnaz’s research activity is focused on nutritional status and dietary patterns of elderly people and their association with the risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Her main area of interest is to identify the potentials and challenges in relation to nutritional and dietary modifications, as preventive strategies against dementia and AD in the elderly population.
